Roads and Transportation issues impact Alexandria residents every day. Altering road designs for a few hobby cyclists negatively impacts everyone else.

Our main roads are designed and needed for high volumes of motor vehicle traffic.

We need to be on time for work, school, and appointments.

“Road diets” serve to: reduce the number of travel lanes; cause traffic jams; impede emergency vehicles; remove tree canopies in medians; create confusing, inconsistent and unsafe road markings; and increase pollution from longer idling times for cars.

I will support only common-sense road modifications where needed.

I will also support a pedestrian safety education effort, which is particularly important given the high percentage of foreign-born Alexandria residents, as well as other new drivers, who must feel bewildered by our road markings.
